Boston's Family Fireworks on New Year's Eve is now in its 16th year. This 12-minute fireworks display takes place in the intimate setting of the Boston Common Baseball Field (at the corner of Boylston and Charles Streets) where revelers of all ages will have a front-row seat to the pyrotechnic extravaganza. Boston Family Fireworks rings in the New Year at midnight Greenwich Mean Time, Also knows as Universal Time, which is technically when the world will become 2016. This idea was one David Mugar came up with in 2000 to ring in the new millennium, the first year Boston 4 Productions produced the annual fireworks display. Although the display was set to be a one-time only event, due to its great popularity, the Boston Family Fireworks has now become a New Year's Eve traditional favorite.

Boston 4 Productions' signature event is the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular held on the Charles River Esplanade.  In September 1973, David Mugar suggested to then Boston Pops Conductor Arthur Fiedler that in order to revive the diminishing Esplanade concert series it might be a good idea to play Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" with a few added extras. For the next Fourth of July, howitzer cannons, fireworks and church bells were all added to the concert so that, as Fiedler said, "All hell could break loose," and a July 4th fireworks display took place. Now, over four decades later, the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular is known as America's premier Independence Day celebration. Since its inception, hundreds of thousands of people have come from all over the world each year to celebrate America's birthday!
